THE POETICS OF STREET THEATRE

The paper addresses the meaning, concept, and modes of performing street shows, specifically street theatre. The research is based on our experiences with street performances in New York, which encompass the specificities of street theatre, such as improvisational theatre, interactive theatre, playback theatre, alternative theatre, hip-hop theatre, and performative art. Although all these types and subtypes of theatre can function independently, we unify them under the general term "street theatre," as it incorporates at least one element of their specific characteristics.
