In this paper, the author examines the contemporary ontology of rap music and hip hop culture. The Hip-Hop Is Dead by Nas is the referential point that inaugurates the postponed condition of algor mortis; namely, after the death, there are signs of body cooling. Rebellion is the core state of rap and hip hop, and this rebellion is abolished on the three levels: sampling is not free of charge, so rap is no longer postmodernism; textuality no longer depends on the language as an uncontrollable being, but it is more part of the repetitive mannerism; and rap is no longer a political voice of the deterritorialized community, but rather part of the system of totality.
