In this paper, the central analysis is the memory of the city of Skopje as a subject represented in the lyrics of Macedonian hip hop songs. The engaged texts of the selected hip hop songs in which the memory of the city of Skopje is represented as a subject is reinterpreted not only through the recent past but also through the so-called memory of the present. The interdisciplinary approach of analysis enables a mo­re dynamic level of discussion about the relationship between memory and music in the urban history of Skopje.
